Certificate II In Split Air Conditioning & Heat Pump Systems (UEE20120)

This course is designed for electricians and fulfils the requirements for installing split-system air conditioners and heat pump systems. The qualification is delivered in a classroom-based environment, with the completion of a Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) process prior to course commencement. Students in the split system course are given training in both the theory and practical elements of installing air conditioning split systems.

This course fulfils the qualification requirements necessary to apply for a restricted refrigerant gas handling license and install a split system air conditioner (up to 18WK). A Certificate will be issued upon successfully completing the course, enabling you to apply to the Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC) for a restricted refrigerant gas handling and/or purchasing license. 

Once you’ve successfully completed your Certificate II in Split Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems, you will attain the following nationally recognised units of competency:

UEERA0059: Prepare and connect refrigerant tubing and fittings.

UEERA0049: Position, assemble and start up single head split air conditioning and water heating pump systems.

UEERA0064: Recover, pressure test, evacuate, charge and leak test refrigerants - split systems.

Please note that you must be a licenced electrician to be eligible for this course or have obtained a “Trainee (Classroom Only) Licence” from the Australian Refrigeration Council.

Who is this course for?

This course is for electricians and electricians-in-training. The split system course will enable you to install, position, assemble, and start up a split system air conditioner and water heating heat pump system.

What can I do with this course?

After the completion of Electro-Training’s Split System Course for Electricians (UEE20120), you’ll receive all the associated nationally recognised units of competency. This will entitle you to the following benefits:

  • You’ll be able to perform split system installation for air conditioning units and heat pump systems.
  • You can apply for your restricted gas handling licence.
  • You’ll be eligible to apply to the Australian refrigeration council (ARC) for a restricted refrigerant handling licence and refrigerant trading authorisation.

Am I eligible for the Cert II Split System Air Conditioning course?

To be eligible for the Cert II Split System course, you must be an electrician and have completed your a CPR and LVR qualification within the last 2 years.   To prove that you hold the required pre requisites we will ask for your electrical workers licence and your CPR LVR statement of attainment or USI transcript.

How long is the Cert II Split System Air Conditioning course?

The Cert II Aircon course lasts for three days and is delivered face-to-face in the classroom. The first two days will comprise theory lessons, while the final (3rd) day will be the practical examination.
