This course fulfils the Qualified Technical Person (QTP) qualification requirement for an Electrical Contractors License.

ENROLMENT: 3 Question pre-test. Prior to your enrolment being accepted we require you to complete a 3 question pre-test to help us to understand your training requirements. Your enrolment in the QTP course is not confirmed until one of our Trainers has discussed your pre-test results with you.
TRAINING: Workbook (Completed either via distance OR by attending a 2 day workshop) – Using the course workbook and from communications with your trainer complete all the review activities in the workbook, this will refresh your knowledge of AS3000 and AS3008. Please note, you must have your own copies of AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 3008 to complete this course.
ASSESSMENT: Assessment day (Completed face-to-face over 1 day) – Final assessment comprising of written and practical assessment of content covered in the course workbook. The final assessment must be completed on site in our Brisbane or Townsville office. Assessment dates are set once a month in each area and require a minimum of 6 students to run. If an assessment date is cancelled due to low numbers the following date will not be dependent upon numbers (i.e. an assessment date is guaranteed to go ahead at least once every 2 months in each location).
Work experience record (Completed on the job) -Under the supervision of a qualified electrical contractor you will complete 3 jobs where you test and verify an electrical installation on a switch board. This is completed via distance. We supply a work experience record and you organize the qualified person (QTP on Electrical contractors licence) to supervise your testing. Student will need: note paper, pens, calculator, hand tools
Course Duration Learners have 3 months from enrolment to satisfactorily complete the assessment requirements of the course. The modules/units of competency above are assessed using Competency Based Assessment (CBA). Each learner is given two opportunities to satisfactorily complete a task or answer a question. Should a learner receive an unsatisfactory result on both attempts or not complete any assessment item within the required 3 month period the learner may receive a Not Yet Competent (NYC) result.
Total Fee: $1,600.00 CSQ subsidised course fee: $542*
* We have reached the maximum amount of funding available to us under our Contract with CSQ and we are no longer able to offer CSQ funding until the start of the next contract period, 1 October 2020. Only enrolments that start after 1 October 2020 will be able to access CSQ funding. CSQ funding is available to Queensland residents currently working in the Building and Construction Industry (Most Queensland Electricians are eligible).

Please note, only CSQ eligible participants who choose to attend the 2 day workshop will receive the CSQ funding upfront, i.e. the subsidised course fee of $542. Participants that complete the course workbook via distance will receive the CSQ funding upon completion of the course, i.e. they will be required to pay the full course fee, $1,600 upon enrolment and will receive the CSQ funding of $1,058 once they complete the course.
Note: The supply of an Education Course is a GST-free supply and therefore the course fee does not include GST.

Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) process: Please contact our office 4724 4543 and ask to speak with the Business Trainer should you believe that you may have already met the requirements of the unit of competency from prior learning and/or experience.
Late Arrivals: The course commences at 8am, any students arriving later than 30 minutes after course commencement will not be able to attend the course and will not be eligible for a refund of the course fee.
Student Cancellation: A fee of $200 will apply for written cancellations received within fourteen days from enrolment. Cancellations received more than fourteen days after enrolment are not refundable.
Institute Cancellation: The Electro-Training Institute guarantees that the training and assessment will be completed by a qualified person on the date specified on the student’s confirmation. Should the Electro-Training Institute not provide the training and assessment on the specified date a full refund will be given to the student within two working days of their bank details being received in writing by the Electro-Training Institute office.
Confirmation: Full confirmation details and course instructions will be sent to you upon receipt of booking.
Certificates/Statements of Attainment and Academic Records of Achievement: Upon successful completion, of the course, Electro-Training Institute will provide a qualification in the form of a Certificate/Statement of Attainment as well as an Academic Record of Achievement. This qualification will be mailed out to the indicated address on the students enrolment form. It is the responsibility of the student to provide Electro-Training Institute with the correct mailing address. A fee of $35.00 will apply for any re-prints of the Certificate/Statement of Attainment and Academic Record of Achievement.
Student deemed Unsuccessful/Not Yet Competent: If a student fails to complete an assessment or is unsuccessful in completing an assessment task/exam they are deemed as ‘Not Yet Competent’ by the assessor and the assessor will nominate a time for re-assessment within class time. This second assessment will be free of charge. If the student remains ‘Not Yet Competent’ after the second assessment, he or she will be notified that this result is final and he or she will be unable to successfully complete the unit of competency in which they are enrolled. Any further assessment will be fee for service and the student will need to have a meeting with the Institute Director to create an individual learning plan before their re-enrolment in the course is confirmed.

Professional development: This course is designed to meet the technical qualification requirement for an Electrical Contractors licence with the Queensland Electrical Safety Office. A Statement of Attainment documenting your attendance and results will be awarded at the end of the course.
